January’s Student of the Month – Callie Hazel at a Jazz Choir Performance

Callie Hazel is one of January’s Kiwanis Student of the Month.  She is the daughter of Bob and Nicole Hazel.  She has a 3.98 GPA and her favorite classes include News, Spanish, and Choir.  She stays involved in school by participating in activities like Softball, Student Council, Drama, Prom Committee, NHS, Speech, Jazz Choir, FCA, and being a manager for Football and Wrestling.

“I really like staying so involved because it allows you to have so many relationships,” she said.

Outside of school activities, Hazel volunteers at church and Aheinz,  “I help with cat patrol and my family also fosters cats.”

After graduating from high school, Hazel plans to attend either the University of Iowa or Mizzou to major in communications or journalism.

To Hazel, being Kiwanis Student of the Month is an honor.  “It shows that I’m recognized in the student community. I try to be a role model and stay heavily involved.”

Hazel’s advice to everyone is to “get involved because you get out what you put in. You also build relationships and learn the value of hard work.”

In recognition of her achievements, Kiwanis of Adel has donated $50 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.
