Tigers Take on State

This past weekend, tiger wrestlers Andrew Flora(106), Nolan Harsh(113), Zach Johnston(160), Cole Bennett(182), Hunter Gibson(220), and Nathan Heath(285) competed at the state tournament in Des Moines.

Flora and Harsh came up short and were not able to make it to the podium. The two freshman battled hard and hope to come back stronger next year.

Bennett lost in the quarter finals and wrestled back to get fifth place. Along with Bennett making it to the podium, so did Gibson, Heath, and Johnston. Gibson made it to the semi-final round and lost but came back to get fourth place.

Heath had a total of five pins in a total of 9:24, giving him the lead with the most falls in the least amount of time at the state tournament. He finished with a bronze medal, at third place.

Johnston, a two-time state runner up, finally got what he has been working hard for. He went undefeated and brought home a gold medal.

The team finished fifth overall, the highest finish since the mid 1970’s.
