REPO! The Genetic Opera: Review

Gore, music, dystopia, and spectacle. REPO! The Genetic Opera is a rising cult classic back from 2008. And at centerstage is a young woman imgres-2named Shilo (Alexa Vega) living in a world after a deadly epidemic of organ failure wipes out most of the world’s population and dealing with a deadly blood disease which took the life of her mother. From the ashes of the fallen world is Gene Co. an organization runned by Rotti Largo (Paul Sorvino) and enforced by the Repo Man if one doesn’t pay their debts to Gene Co.  the Repo Man comes and takes back the organs you couldn’t pay for. The film is done masterfully and is unlike anything one has really seen, the visual effects are dark and comedic- with plenty of political satire in between the musical and  buckets full of blood which will please any fan of horror or  the Saw franchise. The music is hypnotic and memorable for both right and wrong reasons. REPO! The Genetic Opera is classified as a “rock opera” which means if you are a fan of Marilyn Manson, Disturbed, or anything in between you will be singing to the soundtrack long after your viewing. The story of REPO!
