Doc’s Film Deliberations #7 – Star Wars: The Bad Batch Premiere
Star Wars: The Bad Batch
In the Star Wars stories, The Clone Wars were a very important part of the storyline. The entire army of the Republic were cloned soldiers led by Jedi. But when Chancellor Palpatine (Leader of the Republic) sends a transmission to the Clone army saying, “Execute Order 66”, the Clone Army turns against the Jedi and attempts to execute them, and the Republic crumbles and is forcefully reorganized into the Galactic Empire. However, an elite squad of forgotten clones does not believe the Jedi were guilty of high treason.
Description: All clone troopers are made the same, except for one unit: Clone Force 99, also known as “The Bad Batch”. A group of enhanced clones who each have unique skills. Hunter: The Leader, Wrecker: the Muscle, Tech: The brains of the operation, Echo: The Hacker, and Crosshair: The Sharpshooter. This unique squad of clones is well known for their extreme tactics and methods. Plus, with their small habit of disobedience, everything goes wrong for The Bad Batch when they are told to execute Order 66 and refuse to follow the orders due to being immune to their clone programming. Soon after, their own government turns on them and accuses them of treason against the new Galactic Empire.
Opinion: In Season 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, they introduce this unique squad of clones and keep them on for a few episodes to show them in action during the Clone Wars. After their late introduction, many fans wonder what happened to them during and after Order 66. Their new show now brings us back to the Clones we come to admire. In my own opinion, the premiere episode does not disappoint. especially since it gives us about 70 minutes of awesome action, suspense, and cameos.
