Best National Parks to Visit During Spring Break
Spring is just around the corner and is something that we all look forward to after a long, cold winter. For many schools and other jobs, spring breaks are mostly in March. March, which is cold and wintery in some places and/or rainy in others. However, there are still loads of places that are perfect for spring break.
Due to COVID-19, many people have been working from home and have been looking for a time to get away from the stressful times, so, I recommend you to visit some national parks, as they are safe to visit and will give you a break from the hectic fast-paced lives we all live.
- Arches National Park in Utah. Arches National Park is a great place to visit year-round, though, the best time to visit is during the spring months as the temperatures stay between 34-60º F. These temperatures are perfect for hiking and enjoying the beauty of parks. This time of the year is best for those who aren’t familiar with hiking because they can experience the scenic spots in the park for a relaxing break. If you plan to visit the Arches National Parks, March might be a good time to do so as there are fewer visitors and the temperatures are favorable for your visit.
- Carlsbad Caverns National Park located in New Mexico. During March, the temperatures range from 40º to 64º Fahrenheit. These temperatures are perfect for hiking as the temperatures during summer reach up to 100º Fahrenheit. This national park has North America’s third-largest limestone chamber, the Big Room. The Big Room is almost 4,000 ft long, 625ft wide, and 255 ft high. The hike takes about an hour and a half to complete, however, if you aren’t a big fan of hiking then there is a shorter trail which is about 45 minutes. The trails are wheelchair accessible as well, so if you or your family members have trouble walking you should have no trouble getting around the caves. Other than the marvelous caves and sights, the park also holds many diverse animal species. It has been identified that 67 species of mammals, 357 species of birds, 55 species of reptiles and amphibians, 5 species of fish, and over 600 species of insects. - Virgin Islands National Park on the Island of St. John. This island is located in the Caribbean and is a U.S. territory. This is a wonderful place to visit year-round. There are many nice resorts and restaurants on the island. March is the best time to visit the island because there is less rain and the chances of tropical storms are low. The temperatures range from 75-85º Fahrenheit much different from what we have here in Iowa. This park holds rich marine life and beautiful coral reefs and along with that, there are tons of hiking trails. Though, March is the busiest time of the year on the island so make sure to make your bookings in advance.
