Doc’s Film Deliberations #1 – Skyfall
Skyfall (2012)
This 007 film is the third film of James Bond played by Daniel Craig (Knives out, Casino Royale) out of 5 total. Skyfall has been given a rating of 92% on Rotten tomatoes, a 7.7 out of 10 on IMDb, and made 1.109 Billion US dollars at the Box office.
Description – When Bond’s (Daniel Craig) latest mission went south and he is presumed dead, undercover agents around the globe become exposed, MI6 (the British Secret Service) has been attacked, and cyberattacks against M (Judi Dench) have forced her to relocate the agency. With the British Secret Service compromised, Bond returns, very much alive, to follow a trail to Silva (Javier Bardem), A man from M’s past who returns to settle an old score.
Personal Opinion – With COVID-19 shutting down most theaters but a few yet still opened, those theaters have re-released movies from even before COVID-19 such as “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, “the Avengers”, “Empire Strikes Back”, and more. If I could bring a few other films back as well, this would be one of the films I would like to see once again on the big screen. This film’s theme, I would say, is that no matter how much you try to forget your past, it’s still there and might come back to haunt you. My enjoyment level of this film would be a 9.1 out of 10 because the action scenes were realistic, well-choreographed, and fit very well within the story. Out of Craig’s 4 “007” movies that have been released so far, this was not my number 1 favorite because the story was not as good as the other stories, and the ending to me seemed a tad morbid.
For anyone in quarantine and looking for movies with action, adventure, and a little bit of romance, here’s a list of his 007 movies listed in order below;
1. Casino Royale (2006)
2. Quantum of Solace (2008)
3. Skyfall (2012)
4. Spectre (2015)
