What is News Journalism?
Imagine it’s a Friday afternoon and your walking to advisory with your best friend. Both of you walk into your class and realize the projector is on. That only means one thing, The Friday Flash is out. The bell rings and your advisor starts to play the Friday Flash while taking attendance. Your best friend and you laugh while watching the video and you realize that was one of your favorite parts of the day. After the video, you realize that you want to be apart of the Friday Flash. How? Where does the Friday Flash come from? How can I become apart of the staff?
News Journalism is a class taught by Beth Basinger. In class, you work on projects such as the Friday Flash, People of ADM, Student of the Month, The Black and Redgister, and other personal stories. News Journalism is different than most classes. In normal classes, you have to take notes and fill out worksheets. Instead, News is filled with lots of hands-on projects that teach you life lessons and ways to be a journalist.
The next time someone asks you “Who does People of ADM?” or “How can I be in the Friday Flash?” you can answer there question. Say, “Take News Journalism next year with me! It’ll be so much fun.”
