All The Way With Amy K
Currently polling at a mere 10%, Amy Klobuchar is one of the top 5 candidates. Barely. The Minnesota senator, running on her pure midwestern values, has gained enough support to stay afloat. But as the Iowa caucuses near and the election still months away, Klobuchar needs to create some chaos. Because, in all honesty, 2020 is the year where America should go all the way with Amy K.
As we deal with the turmoil of the impeachment process and Trump’s presidency as a whole, we need a candidate who can come in and make realistic changes. Klobuchar can do that. Her views have a more moderate approach and she can be compared with Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Former Vice President Joe Biden. She supports ideas such as free two-year college and expanding medicare coverage.
While I think Buttigieg is as strong a candidate as Klobuchar, 2020 isn’t his year. I can easily see a President Buttigieg in headlines in 8 or 12 years. While he’s a fantastic speaker and incredibly bright, Buttigieg doesn’t have the political experience to run this country. He needs some more time in a federal office, serving as a Senator, the Secretary of Education or in another position on that level. On the other hand, Biden has spent too much time in politics. He already served as Vice President, and while some might view his insight as an advantage, it can also be seen as a disadvantage. He already has had his time to make a difference. The world is moving on and he can’t keep up. Also, we already have an old, white, straight and male president at the moment. Do we need another one?
Speaking of old, white, straight and male presidential candidates, Senator Bernie Sanders’s campaign has been proclaiming a political revolution, one that would be too drastic for America to handle. While the political system is broken, scrapping the one we have and attempting to rebuild from scratch isn’t the right choice. We need to mend it, creating a system that supports everyone and fixes the problems that need to fix our country. Do we think free health care for all and the elimination of private insurance is something our country can afford and manage? Senator Elizabeth Warren is in the same boat as Sanders. She is more socialist than what’s good for our country. While we need more than what we have at the moment, meeting these ideas halfway is the better way ago. Public insurance should be an option, but if you want to keep your private insurance, go for it. People should get to choose what they do with their insurance because after all, aren’t democrats known for being pro-choice?
Sanders couldn’t win the nomination in 2016. He shouldn’t win it in 2020. Let’s rewind: Let’s say that Sanders happened to win the nomination in 2016. It would have been the same boat America was in with Hilary Clinton. The middle voices, the ones who could vote either side turned to vote for Trump because frankly, he would make less of a mess then Clinton. The same will happen in 2020 with Sanders or Warren if they got the nomination.
We need a candidate who can get the moderate voters, the ones who want to remove Trump from office. Klobuchar has already proven that she can win votes in red areas. Out of the 3,000 Minnesota election precincts that voted for Trump in 2016, Klobuchar won around 1,250 of those in her last election (Star Tribute). If rural Minnesota is voting for her, what’s stopping the rest of Trump country USA from seeing she is a candidate they can get behind. While Klobuchar probably won’t win the Iowa Caucuses, a strong finish will give her national attention for the rest of America to realize that she is the candidate who can get Trump out of office. Amy Klobuchar is America’s best bet.

Minnesota will be one of the first states in the union to be taken over by sharia law yet she thinks she can run and entire country? She cannot even control her own state.

Nice work Paige! Klobuchar should put you on her payroll.
