Monument 14 is a trilogy written by Emmy Laybourne that takes place in Denver. It all starts out with 14 kids, a school bus and about one hundred things that go wrong, after a freak hailstorm and their school bus crashing into a gas station. A bus driver, seven high schoolers, three middle schoolers and four kindergarteners are stuck and have nowhere to go and have nobody to call. Destruction has left carnage and rubble everywhere, the internet has gone down (but, don’t worry, its not the end of the world). To make things even worse, chemical compounds that react to a person’s blood type have blown up and are released into the atmosphere.

I chose this trilogy because I got the first book for Christmas, but I love it because it kept me on the edge of my seat, literally. I almost fell of my cousin’s top bunk bed reading this. It is very suspenseful. It would be good for post-apocalyptic readers.
