Absolute Performance is a physical therapy organization located in Waukee, right off of Hickman Road and was founded by Alyssa Subbert. Alyssa is 37 years old and has enjoyed the multiple years she has been involved with her company.

“I was tired of asking permission for everything I wanted to do. I wanted to have a clinic where people had fun and actually enjoyed their rehab,” said Subbert.

At Absolute Performance, they evaluate their patients from head to toe to pinpoint what is causing pain or dysfunction within their bodies. The therapists work on what you have specialized in as an athlete. For example, if you are a runner, they focus on your running style and form, and make notes of what you could potentially change to help your physical condition, and relieve pain.

ADM Schools is fortunate enough to have one of the therapists at the school to help the students. Melanie Mason, the athletic trainer, keeps very busy with what she does. From taping students, to helping them with their balance, she really contributes to the school.

The most common sports Mason gets called for are basketball and wrestling. Basketball has a lot of possible injuries in store for the player, although the more common injuries are rolled or sprained ankles. With wrestling, there are more concussions and blood involved, with the occasional broken limb. Or two.
