Last Tuesday, the Tigers fell to the Pella Dutch. Saturday night they were looking to turn things around and get the momentum going.

Before the game, senior Carter Nordman said, “Momentum is the most important part of winning. It’s going to take dedication, effort, and good attitudes to start pushing that snowball down the hill.”

Bondurant-Farrar was going into the game with a .500 record and 5-5 while the ADM Tigers were going in with a 3-4 record. Many of the fans were not giving up on the Tigers, though, even with some early season struggles there are a lot of games left to be played and if they just get the snowball rolling, things can change fast.

During the first half ADM got off to a slow start going down 8-0 and things were looking rough. Right when the Tigers needed a start, Matthew “Larry” Larson got things going. He took matters into his own hands scoring ADM’s next 7 points, getting the game back into reach, even after the team put themselves in an early hole. ADM battled back strong with great teamwork, strong passing by the whole team and getting themselves back on defense. The Tigers seemed to be getting the ball around a lot in the first half with seven different people scoring the first half. Senior Alec Gavin had a huge play partway through the 2nd quarter, making the basket and the foul, to give ADM a huge boost, taking that to the half with a 6 point lead.

Carter Nordman talked about working together and getting a snowball rolling. Well, in that second half, even with a lot of foul trouble, they had all their players jumping lanes, finding the open man and making that extra pass, which was the best teamwork out of the Tigers this year. In the second half, senior Tajen Ross started to heat up driving to the lane and hitting the threes.  Ross finished with 23.

In a very physical game (but maybe not as physical as the refs were calling it) Sam McCartney got caught on the more dangerous sides of things. After the whistle, McCartney went up to contest an opposing player at the basket and fell down hard, hitting his head on the ground getting knocked out cold. McCartney would later stand up and walk out on his own will, making a really scary moment seem a little less frightening.

ADM finished the game by passing the ball around and eventually taking the easy layup when it was open. ADM took down the Blue Jays 70-59, giving them a 3 win, 2 loss record in the Raccoon River Conference.

ADM travels to Gilbert tomorrow trying to keep that “snowball” rolling.
