ADM students celebrate with the team

Thursday, October 6th, the ADM girls’ volleyball team took a win against Dallas Center-Grimes, commonly referred to as DCG, for the annual Dig Pink charity game to raise money for those affected by breast cancer. The game took place at DCG High School in Grimes. Because of the short drive from Adel, quite a few ADM students attending, baring pink attire in support of the cause.
“Dig Pink is even more exciting than a regular game,” said senior volleyball player, Sydney Bertman.
“-it gives all of us more of a purpose because we are playing in honor or memory of someone special,” said Bertman when asked what makes Dig Pink such a special night for the players. Many of the players on both teams know someone or are close with someone affected by breast cancer, and that connection gives them all the more drive to play their hearts out.
“The prizes and people make it even more of an event so we all have extra energy and adrenaline,” said Bertman. The crowds at Thursday’s game were extremely vocal and involved in the games being played, which definitely helped motivate players on both sides to compete and play some close games.
Dig Pink is a great cause to both raise funds and support for people affected by breast cancer, and should definitely be a date marked on everyone’s calendar for next year!
