A Year In Review

This school year has been my first time experiencing anything associated with journalism, and it all happened from a mistake. When I began my junior year, I needed to make a schedule change so I had a meeting with ADM’s counselor Jennifer Rebel. I wanted to fill a semester class space in my first semester so that I could remain PE exempt and Communications fit that time. I figured, why not?

The peculiar part of this is that Communications is not a one semester course, we simply made a mistake when scheduling. However, I am incredibly grateful for this happy accident. I have always been a very curious and interested person and journalism is the perfect outlet for me to apply my nosy behavior and habits.

This misunderstanding became more complicated when second semester rolled around and Mrs. Basinger and I realized I was not signed up for and did not have room for second semester Communications. We both knew there was no way I was going to let this stand in my way of continuing to write my stories. Our only solution was to move me into the Publications class period and simply have me do my work in that hour. This worked out great for us and I was able to stay involved with the school newspaper.

Our year as a newspaper staff has been filled with a great amount of change and evolution, and I could not have asked for a better news team to share it with.
